Polygel Nail Manicures
Sculpted length, bold shapes, and three to four weeks of wear, hand-built in Epsom, Newmarket, and Takapuna.
Statement length. Sculpted shapes. Weeks of wear.
Polygel is a hybrid of acrylic powder and gel that we sculpt by hand to the length and shape you want. A polygel manicure takes about an hour, sits lighter than acrylic, holds harder than builder gel, and lasts three to four weeks. The go-to for longer nails, statement shapes like coffin, almond, or stiletto, and anyone who wants bold without the bulk.

How polygel works
Polygel arrives as a thick putty in a tube, made from acrylic powder mixed into a gel base. We brush it onto your natural nail (or onto tips for length), shape it using a slip solution, then cure it under LED. The result holds firm length and intricate shape without the heaviness or strong smell of traditional acrylic. A polygel manicure takes about an hour.
What is Builder Gel?
Builder gel is a basecoat that’s thicker than a regular polish base coat. Builder gel is stronger and will be less prone to breaking, meaning that it will be easier to grow your nails. The self-levelling properties of builder gel creates a smooth foundation and protects your natural nails from damage.
Benefits of Builder Gel
The key reason to use builder gel is to protect and grow your natural nails. While builder gel is applied, your natural nails underneath can grow freely. If your nails are thin and damaged from frequent manicures, builder gel will give your nails the time to heal and recover it’s lost thickness.
Our Polygel Work

Benefits of Polygel
No odour
Polygel is almost completely odourless, so your appointment won't bother sensitive noses, yours or anyone sitting nearby.
No dust
Polygel needs to be buffed before it cures under LED, but its larger particles drop to the floor instead of drifting through the air. A win if you have sensitive sinuses.
Light, strong, and flexible
Polygel is around 25% lighter than acrylic, with enough flex to handle daily wear and tear before breaking. Stronger than standard gel, gentler in feel than acrylic.
Long-lasting
Three to four weeks of wear, depending on growth and lifestyle. Touch up with an infill before a full re-set.
Easy to wash your hair
Some acrylic treatments leave small creases on the nail that catch and pull strands of hair when you wash. Polygel cures to a seamless finish with no creases. Small detail, real difference in daily life.
Grow and repair your natural nails
We use polygel two ways to help short or damaged natural nails recover. The first is polygel applied directly to your natural nail, infilled every two to three weeks. The second uses polygel on tips for added length while your natural nails grow underneath, infilled on the same cycle. Clients have gone from acrylic-damaged short nails to fully grown, healthy length in around three months.

Polygel FAQ
What is polygel?
A hybrid of acrylic powder and gel that comes as a putty in a tube. We brush it onto the natural nail (or onto a tip) with a slip solution, sculpt it into the length and shape you want, then cure it under LED. Lighter than acrylic, smell-free, and easy to file into bold shapes like coffin, almond, or stiletto.
What is the difference between polygel, builder gel, and Apres Gel-X?
All three add strength or length, but they work differently.
-
Polygel is a putty we sculpt and cure. Best for longer, bolder shapes like coffin, almond, and stiletto.
-
Builder gel is brushed straight onto the natural nail. Best for strength and modest length.
-
Apres Gel-X uses pre-shaped soft gel tips bonded to the nail. Fastest for natural-looking full-length extensions, easy soak-off removal.
